After exchanging secret glances across the bar, Olivia worked up the nerve to approach Rob and buy him a drink. A week later, he returned the favor by taking her to dinner. They’ve been inseparable ever since! Several years later, Rob planned to propose on a trip to Olivia’s hometown in Australia. Unfortunately, the country had closed its borders for the pandemic, leaving Rob scrambling for a solution. After two failed petitions to enter, he decided to hang his fate on love itself. He submitted one last petition with a photo of the engagement ring and a personal letter begging the Australian government for entry. It worked! Once cleared, the pair traveled to Sydney to visit Olivia’s family. Little did she know, Rob had bigger plans up his sleeve. After a romantic beach proposal, they returned to celebrate with a surprise engagement party at her grandmother’s house.

Lounging in their matching pajamas, the bride and her crew toasted to the big day before heading into hair and makeup. For her gown, Olivia selected a gorgeous A-line lace gown with corset details. The flowy silhouette was absolutely perfect for the island wedding vibes. Her bridesmaids wore mix-and-match blue satin dresses as a nod to the beautiful blue sky and the blue of the ocean on the horizon. In true island style, the men opted for tan linen suits, unbuttoned, with white linen shirts. During the ceremony, the couple exchanged traditional Hawaiian leis to complete their looks.

Wanting to incorporate local traditions, Olivia and Rob placed leis over each other’s necks before exchanging rings blessed with ocean water in a Koa wood bowl. To honor Olivia’s Aussie heritage, Rob also surprised her with a champagne “shoey” at the reception!
